I woke up early the other morning. It was still dark outside. I lay there thinking about what I would do that day. I love retirement. No deadlines, or anything I just had to get done.

My mind wandered as I lay there. I thought about things I have been through in my life. Problems, mistakes, and screw-ups have been many. I do my best not to think about them. I concentrate on the many ways I have been blessed in my life. My family, my friends, my home, my health, my memories.

Turning my head toward the window, the sun was starting to come up, and a breathtaking spectacle was unfolding in the morning sky. Sunrises offer a connection with nature. They are a reminder of the beauty and grandeur that surrounds us. Sunrises are a lot better for us to watch than all the screen we have in our lives today.

I have watched the sunrise come up over the hills many times during spring waiting for a turkey gobbler to answer my calls. Memories float through my mind of turkey hunts by myself, those with my son, and later with my grandson

I have watched the sun come up and reflect in the water from a boat while out fishing during every season of the year with my sons, grandsons, granddaughter, the whole family, or by myself.

The sun comes up and shines through colorful forests on fall hikes to amazing vistas looking over the patchwork quilt below. There is one special place I like to go hike in the winter. I get there before sunrise and sit on an old stump. Look out at the valley below, I wonder what the wildlife are doing.

I have watched the sun rising from a deer stand on a crisp early winter morning. Many times I hunted from an old barn loft and watched the sunrise melt the frosted field. Sometimes it was just me. Other times it was with a son or grandson.

I have watched the sun come up many mornings every season of the year as it peeked through my tent door or as I stirred the campfire while on a camping trip. I would sit there with my cup of coffee watching and listening as all the wildlife started their day.

Many mornings, I have watched the sun come up out of my home office window as I worked on writing a story. I have stepped outdoors every season of the year, camera in hand, to capture the beauty of the sun coming up. The only time you will not see the sun is when it is too cloudy or the storms of life keep you from seeing it. The times it is partly cloudy or after a rain tends to create beautiful sunrises, too.

Life can be stressful at times. Just watching the news on television in today’s world can be disheartening. A lot of things on your smartphone or computer can do the same. Maybe something is going on in your life that is worrying you and bringing you down.

Let me encourage you to get up early and watch a sunrise. Even if you have to go to work, a beautiful sunrise can jump start your day. If you are like everyone else, your smartphone is always close at hand. Take a picture of the sunrise and enjoy it again later.

It is a free way to boost both your physical and mental health. It can boost your feel-good hormones like serotonin for a better mood, and triggers natural energy hormones to increase daytime alertness.

The phrase the sun still comes up in the morning, is a powerful metaphor for perseverance and hope. It can convey that despite challenges or setbacks in your life; a fresh start always remains. It is up to you to make that fresh start happens.

It also suggests that even when things seem difficult, there is still a chance for improvement. The rising sun is a symbol of hope. It represents a new day, a fresh start, and a chance for things to change. Even after facing difficulties, there is still an opportunity for positive outcomes.

Keep moving forward even when facing challenges. The cycle of life continues. There may be moments of darkness or difficulty, but the sun still rises. Change is a natural part of life, just like the sun coming up in the morning. It may be hard to believe that on some days, but things will eventually improve.

The Bible often uses the sun’s daily rising to show God’s presence, power, and faithfulness. Malachi 4:2 says, “But for my followers, goodness will shine on you like the rising sun. It will bring healing power like the sun’s rays.” In the Bible, the sunrise frequently

The words from a song by the Nelons, also says a lot about how we should feel when we look at a beautiful sunrise.

In a world, filled with doubts and confusion
It’s so hard, when you don’t understand
But I’ll stand, on a solid foundation
And I’ll hold, to an unchanging hand

And the sun’s comin’ up, in the morning
Every tear will be gone from my eye
This old place is gonna give way to Glory
And like an eagle, I’ll take to the sky

Even in your darkest moments, God is there for you. There is always the opportunity for you to have a new beginning and a brighter future.

Set your alarm clock and get up in the morning to watch the sunrise. No matter how busy you are or how challenging your life is right now, no matter what you are going through, there is always a sunrise.

Don’t miss it. The sun is coming up in the morning.
